Whiteboard Recording Apps
These can be used to draw, write, type, add images and record voice. Records in real time everything you say and write.
Uses: Students can explain concepts, maths strategies etc. Can use for reading fluency - photograph the book, read and reflect. Maths example, Science Water Cycle example
Seesaw - the Seesaw ipad app has a recordable whiteboard function - press the microphone symbol to record sound and drawing etc in real time. It also syncs between the web version or phone easily. Very easy for students to use. It also has activities that can be created for students. Parents can follow their own child using the Seesaw Family app. The app is free, a paid school version is available which has more options for interaction between classes etc. The best free option.
Explain Everything Edu $24.99 Draw on the whiteboard, add photos & video. Record, save as a movie (mp4 on your camera roll or upload to Youtube). Very comprehensive app with a multitude of options. Draw & Tell - Draw, add stickers and record voice. Can move stickers while recording. Save to camera roll either as image or video. Can also draw but not while recording. No typing (can add letter and number stickers) and can't add photos. More info here.
The apps below are not recommended unless you are willing to pay the high subscription costs as sharing options are very limited in free versions.
Educreations - Draw on the whiteboard, add photos and record your voice then save to Educreations site and get link for sharing. More info here. Free app. Exporting as a video to the camera roll is only available in the pro version which is approx. $170 per year for a class. Can save to the Educreations site and get a link but must leave them on the ipad as well - delete them and the link won't work.
Show Me - Draw on the whiteboard, add photos and record your voice then save to Show Me site and get link for sharing. Can't type. Free version has very limited number of uploads and can't download. Subscription is expensive. Example of Show Me used by a student explaining her science experiment. It is quite long but worth at least watching the first part. Similar work can be achieved with other recordable whiteboard apps.
